‘Feet or Buttocks?’ Shocking Video Shows Gaddafi’s Son Being Tortured in Libyan Prison
A video that shows Saadi Gaddafi, son of Libya’s late Muammar Qaddafi, being tortured in jail has been condemned by lawyers and rights groups.
The nine-minute video shows Saadi, 42, in a green tracksuit, being hooked up to an improvised rack, apparently while in custody at Tripoli’s maximum security al-Hadba prison. His bare feet are then caned.
Segments show him sitting blindfolded and forced to listen to screams of other detainees being beaten in an adjacent room.

“It raises serious concerns about the methods used to interrogate al-Saadi Gaddafi and other detainees at al-Hadba prison,” said Joe Stork, deputy Middle East Director of Human Rights Watch.
“The Tripoli authorities need to urgently establish exactly what did occur.”
The video’s release, by Arabic network Clear News, has alarmed lawyers worried about the treatment of other detainees at al-Hadba, where former Gaddafi-era officials are held.
“This is a shocking video that raises questions about conditions inside the prison,” said Karim Khan QC, London-based lawyer for Libya’s former prime minister al-Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi, also at al-Hadba. “The international community needs to demand a full investigation.”

Saadi is facing trial on charges including killing a football player while head of Libya’s football federation. During his father’s time in power, he established a reputation as a playboy and had a brief unsuccessful career playing for several Italian football clubs.
The undated video, consisting of several segments, was apparently made by Saadi’s captors, some of whom are seen in the footage in military uniform. At one stage, a captor asks Saadi if he wants to be beaten on the “feet or buttocks”. He answers: “What kind of question is this? My feet.”
Al-Hadba is held by Libya Dawn, a militia alliance that controls Tripoli and is battling forces of the internationally recognised government based in the east of the country.

The release of the video comes a week after Tripoli authorities pronounced death sentences for Saadi’s older brother, Saif al-Islam , and eight other former Gaddafi-era officials, including Mahmoudi, after a trial condemned by rights groups and the United Nations as lacking due process. Saif al-Islam was tried in absentia, since he has been held since 2011 by a former rebel group in Zintan, a region beyond Tripoli’s control. Right groups say the verdict was riddled with flaws.
Despite the manner of his downfall, still enjoys pockets of goodwill.
In a rare demonstration, supporters in the eastern city of Benghazi on Tuesday shouted “Muammar, Muammar”, but dispersed after opponents opened fire with guns and hurled rocks.
No-one appeared to have been hurt among dozens of supporters of Gaddafi.
The Gaddafi supporters waved pictures of the man who had ruled for 42 years, and demanded the release of Saif al-Islam.
“Only God, Muammar and Libya!” the crowd chanted and waved the green flags of the old regime.
They dispersed after other residents, some of them carrying the Libyan national flag, opened fire.
Residents said this was the first protest of Gaddafi loyalists in Libya’s second-largest city, the cradle of the revolution, since 2011.
Frustration has been building among Libyans with the country’s chaos as two governments fight for power with the help of former rebels who have fallen out along political, tribal and regional lines.
Benghazi has been especially hard hit as fighting between forces allied to the official government based in the east and Islamist groups has closed the port, choking off wheat, food and petrol imports.
So the UN is complaining what a shame! Let us help the UN to understand WHY? UN: Libya armed groups attacking human rights defenders
Ok! finally the UN is complaining about the situation in Libya and its activists who by the way most of them are expatriates who lied, begged, blackmailed the western world to come and bomb Libya because Qaddafi went crazy and massacred his people who later was proved to be a LIE. The plans of USA and its allies which is France and England ordered the UN to go ahead with the No-fly zone to protect the civilians, so where did all those activists and allies go wrong? I can not imagine that the activists who are CIA assets installed in Libya are naive they knew exactly what they were doing. They are all responsible for the destruction of Libya and have blood on their hands for killing thousands of civilians with depleted uranium bombs, sex slavery, organ trafficking and children trafficking.
These activists that the UN is so worried about their safety are no activists… It says in this article that some activists are being threatened even abroad that is a blatant lie, because colleagues of mine and I included have not been threatened by Armed groups but we have been threatened by secret agencies there is a difference. Lets not forget that the UN and its people like Bernandino Leon are pushing for Muslim Brotherhood to be installed by force in Libya and they are protecting these armed groups so my question to the UN why are you complaining?
These people are your people they are not TRUE LIBYANS they are Libyans born outside Libya and grew up with western ideas which has nothing to do with the Libyan society. I will not say that I am glad that they are killed or kidnapped but I am sure YOU HAVE YOUR AGENDA in not helping them, maybe they found out your true face and they had to be silenced, it will not be the first time or the last.
Your Human Rights defenders where the ones LYING to the world about the atrocities that supposedly Qaddafi did because your bosses told you so, only to come a year later to deny everything… and you think that the Libyan people have forgotten your role? You believe that we have forgotten that the Red Cross would supply YOUR freedom fighters with arms instead of helping civilians. Or do you think we have forgotten your “doctors without borders”helped these armed groups to revive prisoners of war so that they would be tortured again?
You have the audacity to claim that the tribes are involved in this killing how dare you? Where were you when the whole of Bani Walid was attacked by your ARMED GROUPS with WHITE PHOSPHORUS AND SARIN gases? You did nothing to help the children and civilians you just stood there SILENTLY and now you are complaining… these groups are your groups you armed them, trained them, financed them and you brought them in Libya. It serves you rightly what is happening now to your people who never had the balls to stand up and say no.
All of you are responsible for what is happening in Libya and still you are insisting to install by force these armed groups who are a menace to society and to the world so that you can please Israel, SHAME ON YOU in destroying so many lives. What is happening now in Libya will happen to you very soon by your own people.
When you decided to illegally bomb Libya you should have thought of all the con’s and pro’s but you were hasty as you thought it was your chance to steal everything from Libya and not considering that you can not control Libya.
Libya by its own right after 42 years has understood its worth we are not the Libyans you thought you left behind in 1969. Every single Libyan after 1969 understood that we were a thorn to your eye because of our geopolitical position, our oil, our gold and other resources. We knew it was a matter of time that you would invade us. What you didn’t know was that we are a STRONG TRIBAL SOCIETY not like the Saudis or the Qataris and Qaddafi knew exactly what he was doing supplying every civilian with arms.
Qaddafi is laughing from his grave because after FOUR YEARS you still can not control us…. and you will never be able to find the recipe of having all the TRIBES united.. but you can not divide them the only tribe you have under your control is Misurata which supplies you the Armed groups that you are complaining now…. You tend to forget that the Misurata people are a mixed race from Jewish and Turkish origin. You believe that they are your friends but they are not they will betray you eventually and by the looks of it they already have. My suggestion, if you want peace in Libya START TALKING TO THE HONORABLE TRIBES AND THE LEGAL GOVERNMENT AND LET GO OF THE TERRORIST GANGS THAT YOU WANT TO INSTALL BY FORCE… because if you do not, things will escalate even worse and terrorists from all the world will come to Libya and then travel to Europe and there is nothing you can do to stop them… So stop complaining and lift the ban for arms so that the Libyan Army can clean our country.
[JURIST] Armed groups in Libya are deliberately attacking human rights defenders, according to a UN report [text, PDF] released Wednesday. Attacks have increased since fighting escalated in May 2014 and have been documented in a joint report [press release] by the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) [official websites]. Attacks include killings, abductions, torture, unlawful deprivation of liberty and threats via phone and social media. Prominent civil society activist Entissar al-Hassaeri was shot and killed in Tripoli last month [UN report], and two members of the National Commission for Human Rights-Libya, a human rights NGO, were abducted in central Tripoli. Both individuals have been released, but other activists remain missing. Many activists are receiving threats against themselves and their families even after leaving the country. The National Council for Civil Liberties and Human Rights in Libya closed its offices in Tripoli in late 2014 as a result of such threats. Armed groups across all ideological, political and tribal divides are responsible for the attacks after many human rights activists were drawing attention to the widespread human rights abuses across Libya. The joint report stresses a need for stronger state institutions, especially in law enforcement and criminal justice. It also calls upon neighboring countries to issue emergency visas to threatened or attacked human rights activists.

The statement stressed that the so-called government of Hassi is sympathetic and give political cover in addition to the former National Congress provided all forms of financial and political to these terrorist groups that have managed to penetrate the support and control of the cities of Sirte, Derna, Benghazi and Misrata. And in addition of the National Committee of the political dialogue tracks led by the governor of “Leon” is not going to work will not reach the current Libyan crisis and reaffirm that the Libyan crisis smallpox solution but the Libyan tribes and clans and institutions, civil society organizations and a strong national forces. You can not decide the fate of Libya’s Procuratorate for the Libyan people any solution to the current Libyan crisis must be stemmed from the premises incoming Libyan discussed.

Amnesty calls for U.N. (MORE) sanctions, war crimes probe in Libya
Amnesty and the UN are a little too late it has taken them four years to decided for more sanctions and of course to investigate of WAR CRIMES, but question is; The UN while it has sanctioned Libya for arms, ammunition, food, medicine etc, so the legal government has no means because of the sanctions to bringing any arms into the country to get rid of the installed NATO JIHADISTS, Criminal Militias and a list of Designated terrorist organizations. So please could you explain to us Libyans how we can fight them?
Secondly what the Hell does Amnesty wants from the Libyans? When we were calling for the Amnesty people to come to Libya in 2011 they took the side of the terrorists so what do want now? To investigate WAR CRIMES? Really? How about investigating NATO CRIMES? ILLEGAL WAR OF 2011 DONE BY THE FOLLOWING PLAYERS WHO PLANNED A TOTAL COLD MURDER OF A PRESIDENT AND KILLED OVER 1 MILLION POPULATION ON THE PROCESS => SARKOZY CRIMES? BERNARD LEVI CRIMES? CAMERON & HAGUE CRIMES? OBAMA AND HILLARY CLINTON CRIMES? LASTLY ISRAEL CRIMES?
So when I read an article from REUTERS lap-dog of Israel, America and the War Lords, I cringe with all the misinformation they write so here is their article:
(Reuters) – Rights group Amnesty International called on Wednesday for targeted U.N. sanctions and investigations into possible war crimes in Libya to end a cycle of abductions and summary killings by rival armed factions. PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW YOU ARE GOING TO DO THAT? BY INVADING ILLEGALLY LIBYA AGAIN? Or bringing NATO for HUMANITARIAN REASONS?
An Amnesty report released on Wednesday focused on Benghazi, where an alliance of Islamist militants and ex-rebels, known as Shura Council, has battled for months with forces allied to army General Khalifa Haftar, who declared war on Islamist extremists. What Reuters is not telling you that Haftar (CIA ASSET), Shura Council are fighting each other for political power and not to get rid of the JIHADISTS, both parties are USA FUNDED and protected by the UN so dear Amnesty please explain what you really want to do… the fact is that the UN, U.S.A., AMNESTY WANT THE ISLAMIST EXTREMISTS IN LIBYA SO THAT LIBYA WILL BE DIVIDED LIKE IRAQ, SUDAN, YUGOSLAVIA IN OTHER WORDS THEY WANT TO BALKANIZE LIBYA.
The battle over Benghazi is part of a wider conflict involving two major factions and their competing governments struggling for control of the North African state and its oil resources four years after civil war ousted Muammar Gaddafi. THERE WAS NO CIVIL WAR IN LIBYA AND STOP USING THAT WORD, YOU REMIND ME OF THE JEWS AND THEIR PROPAGANDA OF ANTISEMITISM. A WELL PLANNED DESTRUCTION DONE BY THE WESTERN ALLIES TOGETHER WITH THE LIBYAN EXPATRIATES CATCHING THE OPPORTUNITY OF THE ARAB SPRING… A BOY OF 5 YEARS OLD CAN RESEARCH THIS ILLEGAL INVASION AND WILL FIND THAT EVERYTHING WAS STAGED TO MURDER IN COLD BLOOD A PRESIDENT AND TEAR APART A WHOLE NATION.
London-based Amnesty said that the fighting in Benghazi, the main city in eastern Libya, involved tit-for-tat attacks, abductions, summary killings and torture by each side.
“Benghazi has steadily descended into chaos and misrule. The city has been ripped apart by spiraling violence waged by rival groups and their supporters seeking vengeance,” said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, a regional deputy director for Amnesty.
Amnesty’s statement called for an international demonstration of will to investigate war crimes and hold perpetrators accountable as a way to end impunity. YES RIGHT WE CAN TELL YOU THE FIRST PEOPLE TO HOLD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE WAR CRIMES: OBAMA, CLINTON, LEVI, SARKOZY, CAMERON, HAGUE, JALIL, HAFTER, MAGARIEF, BELHAJ=>AL QAIDA AFFILIATE, JIBRIL, GOGA, HASSI, BADI, LIBYAN DAWN, LIBYAN SUNRISE, MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD=>ALLIES WITH OBAMA, HILLARY AND THE UN BERNANDINO, BANDAR BUSH, ALARABIA TV CHANNEL, AL JAZEERA TV CHANNEL, SHEIKH HAMAD BIN KHALIFA AL-THANI OF QATAR, ERDOGAN, NATO MURDERER=>ANDERS FOGH RASMUSSEN THE CHILD KILLER AND ALL NATO NATIONS THAT WERE INVOLVED IN THIS MASSACRE OF 2011 LEAVING BEHIND AND INSTALLING A NEW GOVERNMENT OF AL QAEDA, ISIS, DAASH AND OTHER TERRORIST GROUPS. ALL WESTERN MEDIA OUTLETS HAVE ALSO BLOOD IN THEIR HANDS, DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS, RED CROSS WAS ASSISTING WITH ARMS THESE TERRORISTS AND DID NOT HELP THE PEOPLE IN NEED. SO THERE IS THE FIRST LIST WHEN YOU FINISH WITH THEM WE WILL GIVE THE NEXT LIST. YOUR STATEMENTS MEAN NOTHING TO THE 70,000 P.O.W. WHO ARE TORTURED, RAPPED AND KILLED DAILY BY THE ABOVE INSURGENTS.
Amnesty called on the U.N. Security Council to impose targeted sanctions such as travel bans and asset freezes on those responsible for violations. It said the International Criminal Court should also expand its probe into war crimes. DEAR AMNESTY THIS YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE IT FROM THE FIRST DAY BUT YOUR WORRIES AT THAT TIME WERE QADDAFI’S => LIBYA ASSETS AND OF COURSE FOR THE FAMILY AND RELATIVES OF QADDAFI NOT TO FLEE BUT TO BE COLD BLOODED MURDERED IN LIBYA AND THE REST IS HISTORY…
Amnesty accused both forces from the Shura Council and fighters allied to Haftar’s Operation Dignity of carrying out abductions and assassinations for political motives. Doh! gee wiz! I am speechless with your assumption! You think? The people who are contributing to your high salaries should have 1st checked your IQ standard before hiring you…
The United Nations is negotiating in Geneva with some of Libya’s factions to form a unity government, end hostilities and return the country to some stability. But key factions from Tripoli have so far stayed away. NO THE UN ASSHOLE BERNARDINO WHO WANTS THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD INSTALLED AS A PUPPET GOVERNMENT WHICH IS ILLEGALLY IN TRIPOLI. HE => (BERNARDINO) INVITED ONLY THE TERRORIST GROUPS TO THIS MEETING IGNORING THE LEGAL AND INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT WHICH SAID THEY WOULD NOT SIT WITH THE TERRORISTS WHO BROUGHT LIBYA DOWN. SO LET BERNARDINO EXPLAIN WHY HE IS GOING AGAINST THE WILL OF THE LIBYAN PEOPLE?
“Efforts to reach a political settlement will be meaningless if they do not ensure human rights concerns are addressed,” Amnesty said. “Human rights abuses committed by the warring parties are fuelling grievances and cannot be swept under the carpet.” WHY NOT? YOU DID IT IN 2011 SO WHAT’S YOUR PROBLEM NOW? TOO MANY PEOPLE WOKE UP AND WILL NOT SWALLOW YOUR LIES ANYMORE? OR ARE THE INTERNET BLOGGERS GIVING YOU A HARD TIME BY SHOWING THE TRUTH ON EVERY TURN YOU TAKE?
“Turkey condemns Libyan threat to shoot down any Turkish plane.”
Turkish Airline has been bringing inside Libya full of ARMS &
Turkey has condemned a threat by an internationally recognized Libyan army to shoot down any Turkish plane, civilian or military, that penetrates into Libyan airspace. *****(It’s about time…. the Turkish airline together with Qatar has been landing in Libya since the end of the war in 2011 assisting the rebels/betrayers/terrorists in Libya by giving them arms, financing them and importing mercenaries, causing the escalation of Militias fighting and in the crossfire innocent civilians are being killed. Taking in consideration that America and its allies want this chaos in Libya so later on to divide Libya into three pieces. Finally the government in Tobruk is waking up from their lethargic sleep and stepping up to the demands of the Libyan civilians. So Turkey can drown in its own shit together with Qatar and America. Keep on complaining see if any Libyan will care other than DAASH, ISIS IN DERNA, LIBYAN DAWN, LIBYAN SUNRISE AND LIBYAN DIGNITY.)
A statement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that the “irresponsible” statement that is in violation of the international law is “absolutely unacceptable.” ****(The audacity of the Turks leaves me speechless! What is absolutely unacceptable is that Turkey is assisting to all the Libyan psychopaths which I mentioned before together with the mercenaries, arms and money that Qatar and Turkey airlines import into Libya. They go against the UN embargo but who gives a damn to the UN when QATAR AND TURKEY are doing the bidding of Uncle Sam and the Elite families.)
“We strongly condemn this kind of hostile behavior that target our country,” Ankara said. ****(Oh poor Turkey!! She is so innocent from all charges! She never helped Libyan Dawn! or Al Qaeda, or Sharia or Muslim Brotherhood or the group in Derna Isis.)
In the time since country’s dictator Moammar Gaddafi’s overthrow, rival militias widely believed to be backed by regional powers have fought for control of Libya. An alliance of Islamist and other militias captured the capital Tripoli last year and revived an earlier government and parliament.
The Tripoli government accuses Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Emirates of backing its rivals in Tobruk, including by carrying out airstrikes. The Tobruk government says Turkey and Qatar back Islamist militias.
A Libyan warplane from forces loyal to the internationally recognized government bombed a Greek-operated oil tanker anchored offshore on Sunday, killing two crewmen in an escalation of a battle between the country’s rival factions.
Shortly after the attack, Turkish Airlines, the only foreign airline still flying to Libya, has suspended its flights to Misrata over concerns about worsening security in the country. ****(Misrata is the nest of the Libyan Dawn so pardon me if I do not believe the Turkish airline)
Turkey’s flag carrier cancelled its İstanbul – Misrata flights on Sunday, and suspended all Misrata flights, but had not yet taken a decision on other flights to Libya. Turkish Airlines also flies to Benghazi, Tripoli and Sebha in Libya.
Three years after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi, Libya is mired in a power struggle between two rival factions of former rebels who have established competing governments, both claiming legitimacy and control of vast oil resources. ****(The Tobruk government is the legal government chosen by the people the government in Tripoli is the hand of Turkey and Qatar had they not assisted them with full armament, finance, logistics etc they would not be able to control Tripoli. Do not forget that Qatar and Turkey are for the Muslim Brotherhood and Isis.)
Ankara said that it is obvious that the statement is made by “certain segments” who conduct air strikes, causing civilian casualties, destroy the country’s infrastructure and violate both international law and human rights. ****(Is Turkey talking about Human rights really??? Should we take a look at Turkey and its Human rights violation… Breaking International law by supplying arms, mercenaries, money, logistics and training in Syria and Libya. What about the Human rights of the Kurds in Turkey? the Armenians? When a country wants to criticize another country its best that first they look at their own back yard.)Turkey also doled out a criticism to the international community for turning a blind eye to “those air strikes” which in turn “encouraged” those who made that “irresponsible statement.” ****(I am speechless! What an impertinence from Turkey who is encouraging whom?)
It noted that a number of civilian flights from Turkey to Libya help address the humanitarian and economic needs of Libyan people at this difficult times.
Turkey said it has launched necessary diplomatic initiatives and already contacted the UN’s point man to Libya.
